Why A Prepaid Credit Card?

Prepaid credit cards are a great way to get your hands on a credit card without any of the associated risks involved. Prepaid credit cards are ideal for those who are looking to build credit, or have a bad credit history, or have teenagers or children in the household.

Prepaid credit cards are in essence no more than credit cards without the credit. Cardholder deposits funds onto their card (called "reloading") and the amount of their purchases are deducted from the balance. You can reload you card by direct deposit, bank transfer or at specific location as indicated by the issuer.

Prepaid credit cards are very good for those times when you cannot pay cash, like paying bills online, buying items over the phone and ordering things by mail order. You can also use the card at shops, petrol stations, restaurants, cinemas; in fact anywhere MasterCard or Visa credit cards are accepted.

Since you are not using any credit, prepaid credit card are instantly approved. There are no credit checks, no bank accounts required, no security deposits and no income verification required. You do require some money to transfer to the card before the card can become active.

Prepaid credit cards are interest free and can be used at ATM's to withdraw cash for when cash is needed. Since you are drawing you own money, you are not charged huge interest like normal credit cards. Having to carry less cash around is an added plus.

Prepaid credit card companies offer two fee choices. Pay a small monthly fee or pay a fee per transaction. Paying a monthly fee is usually cheaper if you intend to use your credit card more than five time per month. This fee maybe waived if you elect to make regular direct deposit to your card.

Not all prepaid credit card offers will report you transaction to credit bureaus. So if you are looking to rebuild or starting your credit history; look for card that report the cardholder's transactions to credit bureaus like Equifax, Trans Union or Experian.

In today's cashless society, it is difficult to live without a credit card. If you are the type of person who cannot control your spending or are trying to get out of debt, a prepaid credit card is for you. Since you control how much is added to the card and you can only spend what you have, you will not loss track of your spending.

Statistically students with poor financial discipline will end up with large credit card debts when using unsecured credit cards. Parents are able to teach their teenagers' financial responsibility by using prepaid credit cards.

There are a number of different prepaid credit offers available so look around before finding the right offer for you. Some of the other benefits you may find are rebate programs, point programs, sweepstake chances, affiliate programs and credit reporting facilities.
