Types Of Floor Wax And How To Use Them Effectively

This article is about the protection and maintenance of wooden and other types of floors by using floor wax .

Nowadays you have so many different kinds of floorings in homes apart from hardwood. They look beautiful and that is the reason people prefer it. It also has its advantages where cleaning is concerned because the surface can be cleaned easily and applying wax makes it look brand new. You are saved from the more tedious core of steam cleaning or vacuuming when you have a carpet.

When wax is applied to the wooden flooring or bamboo floor problems and bamboo hardwood floors it is protected from wear and tear and in many cases it gives the floor a shiny and wet look. If used regularly, wax polishing keeps wooden, linoleum and most other types of floors in a good condition. It can even protect your floor from warping due to water or any other moisture. Not only this, but it also reduces grooves or ridges and other kind of damage to the hardwood and other flooring. But the main reason it's commonly used is for its aesthetic appeal as it gives a shiny and glossy look to the wooden floors. After the wax is applied the floor becomes less prone to damage due to abrasion, as the surface is more slippery.

The wax comes in three different variants- water based, polymer and solvent based. Since most of the products contain chemicals, it is a big concern as to the effect on the environment in the house as it contains a chemical, formaldehyde. But there is always a solution. Many companies who are concerned about the environment in homes and offices are coming up with a safer alternative that is environmentally friendly.

Since these issues have to be kept in mind and also to reduce our everyday chores with an already busy schedule, a type of flooring advertised as no-wax has come into the market and getting popular. Although many types of floor surfaces do not require the use of floor wax, they do need to be cleaned on a regular basis. Besides cleaning and using floor wax regularly, the floors also need touch ups at times to take care of the damages due to everyday household activities.

No doubt wax makes the floors beautiful to look ad protect them, but using it on a regular basis sometimes results in wax build up. In such cases, wax removers are used but they contain chemicals, and therefore care has to be taken to avoid irritation or injury to self.
