Trying to Sell Unique Autographed CDs

By: Victor Epand

One thing many people like to do with autographed CDs is sell them. This is because there is a huge market for autographs, and depending on the celebrity, the autographed CD can be sold for hundreds of dollars.

However, before you go about selling autographed CDs, you need to understand the different ranges of cash you can generate from an autographed CD. For example, if you were able to get an autograph from Kurt Cobain during his prime, it is going to be worth a lot because of his untimely death. However, at the same time, if you have an autograph from him that was given the day before he died, it will be worth even more because it could theoretically be the last autograph he ever signed.

Contrast that to an autograph from Rick Springfield on his Greatest Hits CD. This is not going to be worth as much because a) he is still alive and b) he comes no where near the type of iconic figure that Kurt Cobain was. These are the types of things you have to consider when you sell autographed CDs, because you don't want to charge too high for something that no one will buy, but at the same time, you don't want to charge too little for something that may be worth a great deal more.

When you know how much you want to sell it for, you have a few options as to where you can sell it. First, you can simply go to a collector and sell it there. You will most likely get a fair price and you should not have to worry you are getting shafted. You can also take it to a collector shop, where it will be resold to someone else. Again, you will probably do quite well for what you get for the autograph.

Another great place to sell the autographed CD is through conventions, but this often entails having multiple autographed CDs so you can fill a table. Probably the best option for selling autographed CDs comes from a relatively new method, which is eBay. eBay allows you to sell your autographed CDs to anyone in the world, and often, you can get much more than you thought you would because of the high amount of buyers and the auction type of method that is used to get a desired item.

Selling an autographed CD is a great way to make some extra money when you are a bit behind in cash. You can sell anywhere you need to, and as long as you know what it is worth, you will be, or be ripping anyone else, off. That is important because you want to make sure you make good money, but also maintain a good relationship with the person you sell to because in the future, they may want to buy something else. You go through the work to get the autographed CD, so why not make sure you go through the proper methods to get the right price for it.
