Travelling Round Galicia - Try the Pazo Carrasqueira

The Pazo Carrasqueira can be found in the heart of Salnes and this makes the house an ideal starting point for getting to know the town of Cambados with its magnificent historic old district. There the visitor can stroll around the Santa Mariña ruins and cemetery or the Fefiñans Palace that date from the XVI Century. The birth place of the brilliant writer Valle-Inclan, Vilanova de Arousa, the island of La Toja or any of the fine sandy beaches of the area are also not to be missed.

Like all Pazos, there is a fair amount of history surrounding the building and in this case it is the following. In the Rías Baixas, in the very centre of Valle de Salnes, Pazo de Carrasqueira can be found. Taking into account its thick walls and the layout, we are led to believe that it was constructed at the dawn of the XVIII Century. At that time, as various documents relating to local taxes of the time demonstrate, the manor house was an active presence in the neighbourhood of the parish of Sisan.

Besides this, the house owns an Albariño wine cellar, where exquisite wines are produced after a selective harvest in its own vineyards.

With regards to the scenic location for the Pazo, it is extremely well located. Various visits with programmed itineries can be organised, such as walking routes (some with great interest for wine buffs), gastronomic trips and sightseeing tours; birdwatching excursions like the Alabancos route and the possibility to go golfing at the Armenteira golf course, near to the house can also be arranged..

If the above are not enough for either you or your family then you will find within close proximity the following facilities; Walking, Bird watching and Golf.

All in all, not one to be missed.
