The Detroit Institute of Art, Dozens of Cultures in One Place

Detroit has long been a beacon for lost ships. This is to metaphorically say that when times have been hard for individuals, many tend to be drawn to this great city and have been for many decades now. This has largely been due to the fact that Detroit has always been the "Motor City" in that it is the center of the automotive industry. To make a long story short, there are always a lot of jobs to be had in Detroit. Thus, when people are suffering through hardships, they migrate to Detroit, as they know that there is a job waiting for them there and a friendly citizenship that will welcome them.

With that in mind it comes as little or no surprise that there are hundreds of various ethnic groups in Detroit. This is a positive aspect in that it makes the city a colorful rainbow of culture in every aspect, such as music, cuisine, and particularly in the area of extremely inspiring artwork. Detroit holds claims to some of the worlds most talented and imaginative artists, and the majority are originally of a different nationality. The citizenship of Detroit recognized this early on and created a center place for all these great artists, as well as others from around the globe, to showcase their works. This concept, once established, became the Detroit Institute of Art.

This great foundation features works of some of Detroit's most talented painters, photographers, sketch artists and sculptors, but doesn't stop there. With the reasoning that art cannot be kept within one region, this establishment began bringing in art from everywhere and every era in history. Some of the worlds greatest historical artists works are on showcase here. There are paintings by such renowned names as Van Gogh, Renoir and even the infamous Rembrandt. While here, though, make it a point to check out the works of some of today's finest Detroit artist. You will be shocked to see that some of these individuals artistic talent goes far beyond any others, even the great legends of the past.

The one aspect of the Detroit Institute of Art that you will find nowhere else is that of the Museum Restaurant. Most museums feature a museum and a small shop, but very few have ever crossed into the world of the art of dining. Nevertheless, dining is just as much a form of art as is any other, so, with this in mind, the Caf DIA was born. Here you will find various forms of culinary art, insuring that you won't have to leave the museum just because you want a nice dining experience.

Every month, new artistic works are brought in to the Detroit Institute of Art. Some are permanent exhibits and some are temporary, but you can always be quite certain that the art waiting for you here will only be the best in the world.
