The Dating Scene: Finding your Perfect Mate

None of us are dating experts otherwise we would have a magic formula to present to others to help them find a mate. Contrary to popular belief, looks are not the magic formula otherwise actors and supermodels would be supremely happy. When someone offers you dating tips remember that they cannot guarantee that you will find a mate. Different methods will always work differently for different people.
The best thing that you can do for yourself is to prepare your mind, body and sole for the dating scene. It is important to decide exactly what you are looking for in a person before you just go out and start looking. You need to commit to the dating scene. If you can’t make a commitment, then it will be difficult to find that perfect mate and make a commitment to them as well. Be prepared for some let downs along the way but don't take dating too seriously either.
Before you even step foot out into the dating world, you need to make sure that you are ready. In other words, you need to start grooming yourself for the dating world. You need to make the appearance that you care about yourself and who you are. Joining a gym to get yourself fit is a good start. Change you hair and start a good regime of beauty and grooming. By doing this, you will start to feel better about yourself and this confidence will be apparent to those around you.
The next step is to find your right image. Take a look in your closet. You might need to hit the stores and find a whole new look. Find an image that works for you. Your image needs to flatter you, but also does not need to be overbearing and time consuming. Keep you new look simple. You know that you need to get rid of some of those tired and worn out clothes. Find something that flatters your body type and go with it. Avoid the ‘I am home on a Friday night, along look’. In the dating world, the better you look, the more likely someone will talk to you.
Sit down and think about what your goals are with dating. Figure out if you want to get married or if you are just looking for a good time. If it is marriage that you are looking for, approach the dating scene accordingly. If you don't take dating too seriously then you need to ask yourself why you are dating and what you hope the outcome of dating will be. If you are looking for nothing more then a good time, make sure that those whom you are dating understand this.
When you are out in the dating world, choose those you have a good chance of dating. Make sure that you don’t look for someone completely out of your league but also don't aim low either. Keep your expectations realistic and don’t go out there expecting the prom queen to fall down to your knees if you are not the quarterback type. Your best bet is to go out there and be yourself. Let your personality shine through and the right person will come to you.
Remember that dating is a social activity that will enable you to meet a bunch of people. It is okay to meet people and decide not to date them, but rather keep them as friends. It is however, important that you let them know that you enjoy their company only as a friend. Friends in life are important so while you might not be out there looking for them, sometime they come along at the right time. As an added perk, sometimes it is these friends that will introduce you to your perfect mate.
