Surrounded by Pink Bubbles: Gain Rapport with Your Prospects

By: Kenrick Cleveland..

"It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic, Of all things physical and metaphysical, Of all things human and all things super-human, Of all true manifestations of the head, Of the heart, of the soul, That the life is recognizable in its expression, That form ever follows function. This is the law." ~Louis Sullivan

As an architect, Louis Sullivan understood the idea that form follows function. Having designed the skyscraper, he was responsible for creating the modern cityscape.

If you're a salesperson, it may be that the function you are trying to accomplish is to persuade affluent prospects to buy your products or services.

If we think back to Sullivan's credo, it's easy to comprehend that we can design a form to go along with our function.

By building models of persuasion you will find you get amazing results affecting other people.

With the process of rapport and criteria elicitation, we are building models of the person who we are persuading so that we can become them, in a sense.

Here are some more far out models which will make persuasion even more effective with your affluent prospects.

Like trying on someone else's skin, these all can be explained quite simply as ways of asking your unconscious mind to do something very powerful on your behalf.

It assumes and presupposes your ability to do it, and in fact your unconscious CAN do it. Your unconscious mind simply understands what you're asking it to do, and then engages behavior for you to accomplish these things. The next step is the model of stepping into someone, a.k.a. "the bubble". It's an interesting concept right out of metaphysical literature, and it's very effective as it relates to rapport.

And here is all you do: imagine a pink bubble around you and your prospect (or prospects). That's it.

This might seem silly, but the color of the bubble matters, so choose either pink of gold.

Now that we've got our big pink (or gold) bubble, I am going to imagine up a lasso and throw it around my prospect and as I do this, I'm going to pull us both into the bubble.

I understand that you're reading this thinking, 'This is crazy. What the hell is this guy talking about?'

I understand. Really, I do. There's a real point to this, and that is to link us with our prospects energetically.

So maybe you think this is all goofy and yet you still give it a try and find that there's a very powerful energy surrounding you and your prospect. Well. . . who's it hurting to have this mental construct in your mind?

In designing this form, the function that we want to accomplish is rapport that leads to persuasion, influence.

This pink bubble works for groups too. I do this all the time when I give seminars. I simply drop the bubble over all of us and then I can step in and out of it at will.

What do you think the impact of that is?

Well, the influence is that I'm creating rapport between my students and people who come to the seminar.

I step into the bubble... what happens? My influence takes over. It's my bubble. I own it. It works for me. Experiment with the bubble and please post to the forum your experiences. This will be an incredibly interesting exercise for you. You'll gain an entirely new perspective on your persuasive ability toward the affluent.
