The California Overtime Law was implemented in the state of California in the year 2000. According to California Labor Law Overtime, the workers in California who are working on hourly basis, must be given an overtime pay if they work for more than 8 hours per day in a 40 hour week. Moreover, the overtime law states that if a person works for more than 12 hours per day they deserve a double time. California overtime law is there to protect the workers who work on hourly basis.
Secret 1: What the Overtime Pay Law says about Working 7 Days per Week
California Labor Law overtime also has a provision about those workers who work on all the days of the week. Those workers who are working seven days in a week on hourly basis should be given overtime pay even for the first 8 hours of the seventh day.
Basically, all the labor laws have the same purpose. These laws are made and implemented to protect those people who are underprivileged.
Secret 2: Protection Under the California Overtime Law
California overtime law has made it clear to the workers as well as the employers that all workers should be paid according to the number of hours he or she spends on job. Few years back it was a problem in California that people who were working for long hours on hourly basis did not get the right pay for it. There were many workers who were working for much longer than the standard working day of 8 hours. As a result, there was a lot of frustration within the working force. To tackle this problem the Californian governing bodies established the California overtime law.
Secret 3: There are Only a Few Exceptions to the California Overtime Law
To ensure that the law is implemented properly, there were only two exceptions which were allowed against the minimum wage rate issue. One exception was for those who have an agreement of collective bargaining and the other exception is in the case when the employers have a workweek schedule of alternative nature. The law has helped many people to earn the amount of money according to the hard work they provide their employers.
